The premium winter drive tyre with exceptional grip for safer operations in severe conditions.
Bridgestone, the world’s largest tyre and rubber company, has deployed its latest winter tyre technologies to develop NORDIC-DRIVE 001: the premium truck drive tyre for severe winter conditions.
NORDIC-DRIVE 001 incorporates Bridgestone’s improved anti-slip block technology combined with its renowned Multicell tread compound to deliver exceptional grip, traction and braking on snow and ice, with good mileage and high on/off-road capabilities.
“With the development of NORDIC-DRIVE 001, Bridgestone has moved to the next level in terms of grip and braking safety for fleets operating in severe winter conditions” said Harald Van Ooteghem, Senior Manager Truck & Bus Tyres Product Category Management, Bridgestone Europe.
Exceptional grip and traction
Bridgestone’s improved anti-slip block design creates three times more biting edges on each block than conventional block designs, producing better grip and outstanding traction on wet and frozen surfaces than its predecessor W970.
This grip and traction are enhanced by Bridgestone’s renowned Multicell tread compound. Multicell is porous, allowing surface water created by tyre friction to flow into the tyre – keeping the rubber in firm contact with the ice, for improved snow and ice traction.
Tests performed at various fleets in Norway, show that new NORDIC-DRIVE 001 produces significantly better grip on snow and ice than its predecessor W970, with stronger traction and shorter braking distances – for safer operations in severe winter conditions.
The NORDIC-DRIVE 001 also beats its predecessor on fuel consumption, tyre life and suitability for retreading:
As with new Bridgestone products in other tyre segments, NORDIC-DRIVE 001 follows the company’s strategy to simplify tyre product names and make them self-explanatory. NORDIC describes the severe winter application, DRIVE defines the axle, and 001 denotes first generation of the new premium Bridgestone line-up.
NORDIC-DRIVE 001 will progressively replace the W970 drive tyre in markets with severe winter conditions. The new NORDIC-DRIVE 001 tyre is currently available in 3 sizes: 315/70R22.5, 295/80R22.5 and 275/70R22.5.
