The FIM Endurance World Championship series comes to Slovakia Ring for the first time on 22 June, for the penultimate EWC race of the season.
Bridgestone, official tyre supplier to YART Yamaha Official EWC Team and F.C.C. TSR Honda Team, is quietly confident that both teams will be powerful challengers for the podium.
Strong results in the 8 Hours of Slovakia Ring will see both Bridgestone teams continue their impressive move up the EWC standings table. The YART team has shot up from 13th place to 4th since the Bridgestone partnership started in early 2017, while the TSR Honda team holds 5th place. With only 24 points covering the top 5 teams in the standings and 30 points available for the winner of the 8 Hours of Slovakia Ring, the stage is set for a thrilling face-off.
Nico Thuy, Head of Europe – Motorcycle at Bridgestone Europe says: “Slovakia Ring is lightning fast with elevations and blind corners, so it is technical and tricky, and many teams will be racing here for the first time. I believe Bridgestone has an advantage because we’ve done a lot of testing and product development on this circuit. But we are certainly not underestimating the challenge we face here.”
Bridgestone, the world’s largest tyre and rubber company, announced its return to top-tier motorcycle racing in February 2017, with its decision to supply two teams in the prestigious FIM Endurance World Championship (EWC) series: Austrian-based YART Yamaha Official EWC Team, and the F.C.C. TSR Honda team.
The FIM EWC is a worldwide championship competition consisting of five races: two in France and the remaining three in Germany, Slovakia, and Japan. The 8 Hours of Slovakia Ring is the fourth race of the current season which began in September 2016 and will end with the Suzuka 8 Hours endurance race at Japan’s Suzuka Circuit on 30 July 2017.
